Leaf Sorting - Data Handling - Shape, Space, and Measure (Years 1 - 2)
Leaf sorting is a fun activity where your class will go outside to collect some leaves before sorting them into groups according to their properties. It’s a good way to introduce your class to some simple data handling as well as developing their skills to sort items into groups by looking closely at their features and shape. This activity contains differentiated sheets with pre-populated categories as well as a blank sheet to encourage students to think of their own methods to sort the leaves.

Coordinate Graphing Pair Cards
Two sets of pair cards to help children learn how to read one and four quadrant coordinates grids. They can be used in a variety of ways as a whole class, in pairs, or individually. We find them very effective a exit cards or even a fun extension activity for those early finishers.
Here are two ways that we have used them successfully:
Game 1: Give each of the children 1 card, get them to walk around and find the other person with the matching card. How quickly can they do it?
Game 2: In pairs, put all of the cards face down on the table. Take it in turns turning over two cards to try and find a matching pair. The person with the most pairs at the end is the winner.

This place value activity contains 4 differentiated coloring worksheets for looking at the value of hundreds, tens, and units. Students must figure out what each number is worth in both three and two-digit numbers, coloring in the correct about of blocks to represent each number. Each worksheet also contains two challenge questions where they must split the answer to complete the additions.

Addition Dice Game: Years 1 and 2
This is a fun addition dice game for grades K - 1 to practise addition either mentally or using visual aids to help. Children will roll dice either 2, 3 or 4 times (depending on ability) and add them together. You can set different challenges each time (highest total score, lowest total score, quickest to complete, etc.).

Outdoor Subtraction Task Cards: Reception - Year 1
Using physical materials outdoors is a great way to introduce your students to subtraction. For this activity they take a task card and use leaves, stones, and sticks to help them work out the simple subtraction on the card.
This resource contains two levels of differentiation:
Diff 1 (green) – Numbers 1 to 10
Diff 2 (blue) – Numbers 10 – 15
To help the task cards last, we laminate the them and get our student to write the answers on in removable pen.

Fill The Gap – Counting & Addition Activity
Counting and adding outdoors is great fun with this simple activity where students will fill in the grids with the correct number of items. For example, they may be asked to fill in six squares with four leaves and two stones.
This is a great way to introduce them to both counting as well as simple addition. It’s best to laminate this resource or print it on card so that it can be used multiple times.
This pack contains 2 levels of differentiation.
Diff.1: Students are only required to fill in the boxes. (10 activity sheets)
